Active learning
You learn something while you are doing some active projects. Instead of acquiring theoretical
knowledge, you are learning with all your senses. With active learning you can acquire your
knowledge more easily. You can internalize and understood the content even better. For example:
the construction of a ball tab. Because you are creating active a ball tap with all your senses. Social
competence and teamwork skills are developed.

Active-based learning
ABL learning is learning by doing, so you understand how things work.If you learn with ABL, you
learn with more joy and it gets long lasting. You can improve ABL, if you give the opportunities to
learn actively in different ways. If you want to make a fire but you don’t know how to do it, try
different ways to make one. For example if you try to make a fire just with matches it will work
with less success than matches and methylated spirit.

Authenticity:
Ability to show yourself as you are. Everything is original, genuine, reliable and trustworthy.
Authenticity is important to trust others and it will improve your openness self confidence. You can
gain the experience by being yourself, stating your own opinion, showing your feelings, reflecting
honestly. For example reflection, cooperative games.

Cooperation capability
A cooperation capability is when you act successfully with others. You need this to get social
contacts and to live in your social environment. You can improve it through communication with
other people and social media. For example Facebook, Whatsapp, etc.

Cooperative learning
Cooperative learning means group- or partner work. One should not exclude others. You need to
cooperate. One should be free of fears and be able to deal with feedback. For example: Quiz rally.
The participants cooperate in a group to reach their goal.

Environmental education
Environment education is an education that takes place in the nature. It supports individual, personal
and social development, real experiences in the nature and the environment. You can gain the
experience by playing with natural materials e.g. sticks and stones. For example you can also build
cottages with wood or leaves etc.

Group dynamics
Group dynamics is working with many different people and you have the same goal. It is important
for the cooperation and the relation between team members. It describes how the group hierarchy
forms and how every single person acts in the group. There are many advantages to having well
developed social skills, for example a better relationships, better communication, helping each
other and they can be improved through working in a group. Holistic approach
Children should participate in projects or activities with all their senses. This means that you should
do activities or projects with your head, heart and hand. You should experience the process from
start to finish. For example: planting some plants in the garden. The children learn playfully and
with joy. It also promotes the motor-, mental- and social- development.

Limit experience
Limit experience is reaching a point where you can`t get anymore experience. It`s important
because you can cross limits and you have the chance to find your own potential. You can improve
the limit experience with difficult tasks. For example: You can still climb even if you`re afraid of
heights.

Nature-based sports
Nature-based sports means to practice sports in nature with natural materials. It`s important for you to
deal with the nature or with you in the nature. It can be improved through exercises in nature e.g.
jogging, doing yoga, climbing etc. For example you can go into the forest and climb trees or
mountains.

Outdoor education
Extraordinary outdoor experiences which will engrave you deeply. It will improve your action
orientation, holism, personality development, team ability and natural respect. The focus is on
experience. You can gain the experience by cooperative games, activities in nature and reflection
afterwards. For example climbing, hiking, rope courses which supports relationships,
communication, group work, helping each other etc.

Personality development
A personality development is a confrontation with yourself, by your own past, feelings, habits and
behaviors. You can get it by contacting other people and your own experiences. For example, positive
and negative things that happened in your life.

Problem based learning
Problem-based learning (PBL) is the same like a problem-oriented learning (POL). You need to find
the solution of your problem independently and need to resolve it. It is important for your self-
confidence. Because when you have a problem, you can find a solution by yourself. For example:
working with exchange students. The problem of communication occurs. You have to find ways to
communicate. Readiness of risk:
When you have the willingness to do something unknown. You can test your limits and maybe cross
them. It will improve your personality development, self confidence, self awareness, self
conscience and frustration tolerance. You can gain the experience by just doing it and not worry too
much about it. New games with challenging background will help you to grow up. For example
climbing, rope courses, canoeing.

Self awareness
Self-awareness is the capacity for introspection and the ability to recognize oneself as an individual
separate from the environment and other individuals. It is important for experiential education
because it leads to a harmonious relationship with oneself and others. For example you can drive in
a climbing park even though you are afraid of heights.

Self -conscience
Awareness of your own person in view of specific skills, mistakes and so on. It´s important for self-
reflection, because you should reflect your behavior to learn from mistakes or avoid awkward
situations. You get self-conscience through self-reflection, improve and increase across constant
reflection. After group activities you can strengthen your self-conscience, when you reflect yourself

Self-empowerment
Self-empowerment is looking and becoming more aware of yourself. You can use it when you look
for new realistic goals and fulfill your potential. You can gain it through controlling your life and
making positives choices. For example when you have the motivation to climb higher than before.

Self-confidence
It is a feeling that you have inside of yourself. It is a feeling of trust in yourself. You use the self-
confidence to master new or difficult situations. You can get it when you have a strong background
of people who loves you or when you love and accept yourself.

Social skills
A social skill is any competence supporting interaction and communication with others where social
rules and relations are created, communicated, and changed in verbal and nonverbal ways. There
are many advantages to having well developed social skills for example more and better
relationships, better communication etc. Social skills can be improved through working in a group,
helping each other etc.

Youth empowerment
It`s a way children and young people are encouraged to take charge of their life. Furthermore they
learn how to handle situations with using individual competences. This could be important to solve
difficult situations in their life and it`s helpful to support the self confidence.
